Kumaraswamy (Lord Murugan) Thirumalai Kovil - Panpoli

Thirumalai Kumaraswamy temple, Thirumalai Kovil locally, is a hill temple for Lord Murgan, located in Panpoli village of Tenkasi district. At the height of 400 m in the Western Ghats, the region is bordered with Kerala. It has a short history that Lord Murugan came into the dream of one of his ardent devotees, who is a priest as well. He wanted the ruler of the region to excavate his idol from the bushes of the forest. The priest elevated this incident to the king and found this idol. It was in the 15th century, the earliest records about this temple were discovered. There is a water tank in the temple believed to be created by sage Agasthiyar. The temple is located amidst the countryside where the drive towards it itself is a sight to behold. Temple can be reached by a walk through 600 steps and there is a road facility for the people who wish to drive.

The temple is open from 6 AM to 12:30 PM. From 4 PM to 08:30 PM.
