Anegudde Vinayaka Temple - Parashurama Kshetram

Aane means elephant, Gudde means hillock translates the meaning of this Anegudde temple. Lying on a hill in Kumbhashi, this temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. โ€˜Kumbhashiโ€™, another name for the place, came from a legendary tale of a mythological demon character called Kumbhasura. According to folklore tales, the demon Kumbhasura was killed by one of the Pandavas, Bheema, at this village. Sage Agastya was performing a ritual for the wellbeing of the people. The demon Khumbasura was trying to stop it and Bheema killed the demon. There was a devotee of Lord Ganesha in the name of Vishweshwara Upadhyaya living here. One day, a young boy appeared in his dream and said that he was hungry. Taking Upadhyaya with him, the boy disappeared in some way.

He started off the next morning in search of the spot, where the boy disappeared in his dream and came to know that it was his usual path to the lake where he used to take his bath. Impressed by this site, Upadhyaya hurriedly took his bath and worshipped Ganesha. He found a small granite stone with Ganeshaโ€™s structure. He informed this incident to the public and people generously donated land to construct a temple. The Idol of Ganesha has a silver armor that gives a magnanimous look. The temple has many scriptures that are related to the ancient Puranas. It is one of the seven places of pilgrimage in the region called 'Parashurama Shristi' which are believed to be created by sage Parashurama. The temple is located in a quiet place with forest surroundings.
