Day 01: Arrival at Chennai International Airport

Arrival assistance at Chennai International Airport, then transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, visit some of the important sightseeing places of Chennai like Government Museum (Bronze Gallery), Fort St. George, St. Mary's Church, Santhome Church, Marina beach, and Kapaleeshwara Temple & Dakshinachitra - an art and cultural centre. Day 02: Chennai - Kanchipuram - Mahabalipuram

In the morning, drive to the Silk city named "Kanchipuram", an ancient capital of the Pallava dynasty ruled between 7th and 8th centuries. Visit the Ekambareshwara temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva is the most famous one with tall towers, massive halls with sculptured pillars. Next, proceed to Kailasanatha temple which is also meant for Lord Shiva is the finest specimen for Pallava architecture with beautifully carved sculptures. Have a visit to the famous Vaikunta Permumal Temple Have a lunch in the city. Drive to Mahabalipuram, an ancient port city of the Pallavas. Visit to the famous World Heritage UNESCO sites of Mahabalipuram. First, to the Sea Shore temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Vishnu, and then to Five Rathas "Five Chariots", a monolithic structure, representing an unique style built by the pallavas, then finally to Arjuna's Penance. Day 03: Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry

In the morning, drive to Pondicherry "The French Colony". Check-in to the hotel. In the late afternoon have a visit to Sri Aurobindo Ashram, an Ashram dedicated to Sri Aurobindo & "The Mother" Have a visit to "The Church of Sacred Heart" and "Notre dame des Anges". Day 04: Pondicherry - Chidhambaram - Gangaikondacholapuram - Darasuram Temples - Kumbakonam

Day 05: Kumbakonam - Tanjore

Drive to Tanjore (Thanjavur). Visit the famous Tanjore Art Gallery which houses the collection of sculptures and statues, Saraswati Mahal Library Museum, Brihadeeshwara Temple also known as Big Temple which is one of the World Heritage Monument built by the Chola dynasty in the 10th century. Day 06: Tanjore - Trichy - Chettinadu

Drive to Trichy. In the morning, have a stop at "Amma Mandapam" - the holy banks of River Cauvery, where you can see the Hindu rituals after the cremation. It's quite interesting to see the rituals performed by the Hindus with the help of the priest. Then proceed to visit the famous Vishnu temple in Srirangam, the most important pilgrimage centre for the Hindus. Climb the Rock Fort where you can have a good panoramic view of the city. Drive to Karaikudi. Have a traditional lunch at Bangla. Drive to Chettinadu also known as Kanadukathan. In the evening have a village walk to see the traditional houses of Chettiars. Day 07: Chettinadu - Madurai

In the morning have a visit to the village market also known as Sunday Market at Chettinadu. Drive to Madurai. Visit the famous Tirumalainayak Palace built in 16th century with grand pillars is the most attractive one. In the evening, visit the Meenakshi temple dedicated to Goddess Parvati and a thousand pillared hall with eye-catching sculptures. Day 08: Madurai - Periyar (Thekkady)

Today you are going to travel a long distance. Enroute you can able to see many plantations like rice, sugarcane, cotton, papaya, grapes etc. In the afternoon after reaching Periyar "the frontier between Tamil Nadu and Kerala", have a guided visit to the spice plantations to know about the medicinal values about the spices like cardamom, vanilla, cinnamom, cloves, nutmeg, green chilly, pepper etc. In the evening, attend the Martial Arts Show called Kalaripayattu in Malayalam Language. Day 09: Thekkady - Alleppey (Alappuzha)

Drive to Alleppey "the land of backwaters". Enroute you can see the tea plantations that serve as the natural greenish carpets. In the afternoon check in the houseboat and have a delicious lunch and enjoy the cruise in the Vembanadu Lake by passing through its canals for about 5 hours. Day 10: Alappuzha - Kochi

In the morning, after the check out from the houseboat, drive to Cochin (Kochi). Kochi is also known as the "Queen of the Arabian sea". Visit the Mattancherry Palace (Dutch Palace), Jewish Synagogue. Have a drive to Fort Cochin and Check in the hotel. In the late afternoon have a visit to some important monuments and churches belongs to 15th and 16th centuries. First visit the St. Francis Church, the oldest protestant church built by the Portuguese in 1510, where you can see the tomb of a Portuguese Sailor Vasco-da-gama. Day 11: Fly from Cochin to Bangalore. Bangalore - Srirangapatna - Mysore

In the morning drive to Kochi Domestic Airport to board the flight to leave for Bangalore (Bengaluru). Pick up from the Airport and drive to Mysore (Mysuru). Enroute have a visit to the famous historical city "Srirangapatna", the capital city of great muslim warrior and continue your drive. Have a rest in the hotel. Overnight stay in Mysuru

Day 12: Mysore - Somnathpur - Mysore

In the morning have a visit to the Mysore Maharajah Palace, a huge complex belongs to 19th century designed by an Italian architect "Henry Irwin" and built by the Wodeyars. Then have a drive to Chamundi Hills to visit the famous Chamundeshwari Temple. In the afternoon visit the Somnathpur Chenna Keshava Temple which was built in 12th century. Then return back to Mysore. Normally the illumination of the Palace will be on Sundays and Public Holidays. Every day in the evening, there is a sound and light show which explains the Palace history in local Kannada language and at the end of the show just for two minutes the palace is illuminated but only the front view and not the whole Palace. The show will be cancelled if there is rain.

Day 13: Mysore - Hassan

After the breakfast, drive to Hassan. Enroute visit the most popular Jain pilgrimage centre called "Shravanabelogola". This place is known for its Colossal monolithic statue of Gomateshwara. If you are not able to climb 650 steps, you can hire DOLI service and pay directly. Then continue your drive. Visit the Hoysaleshwara temple in a small village called Halebidu and Chenna Kesava Temple at Belur. Day 14: Hassan - Hospet

In the morning have a long drive to reach Hospet (Hosapete). Enroute visit the grand fortress named "Chitradurga" on the top of the granite hills that raises from the ground. This fort was used by different rulers like Rashtrakutas, Chalukyas, Hoysalas, Vijayanagara, Nayakas, Tipusultan and finally by the British between 18th and 19th centuries. Continue your drive.
